Woodendummy Ltd was started by Conrad Ainsley Blades Howard BA Hons Dip arch RIBA IHBC to further his knowledge of the Martial arts. Conrad first started training in Tae Kwon at Brighton University under Kwang Jung Nim GrandMaster Wheeler. From there he travelled to Hong Kong continuing with his Tae Kwon Do training, taking part and winning many competitions whilst also learning the art of Ving Tsun at the Ving Tsun athletic association under Grandmaster Ip Chin and Ip Chun.
It was whilst training in Hong Kong and learning the history of Wing Chun; the development of the wooden dummy from a simple stake in the ground to an indoor adaptation that the idea of redesigning the dummy using modern materials and methods of construction came about. He currently trains WTF in Tae Kwon Do and Hap Ki Do under Master Rose and Tae Kwon Do under Master Lawrence, Both of whom are founding members of Chung Do Kwan in the United Kingdom.
Martial Arts continue to develop organically. There is no one system that suits everyone. It is up to the individual to pick and choose not only which style best suits them but also which parts of the style they find easier to utilise. The same goes for the wooden dummy and its development. To further ones understanding and posture it is essential to undertake many many hours of solitary training. To aid with the training we have and are continuing to develop different types of dummy for different locations and applications.
