Taegeuk 5 Jang symbolizes the "Son", one of the 8 divination signs. Son represents the wind - which in turn represents both mighty force and calmness depending on the exertion of strength applied within the technique. New movements found within this taegeuk are mejumeok naeryochigi, palkup dollyochigi, palkup pyojeokchigi and stances such as kkoaseogi, wenseogi and oreunseogi. It is characterized by the successive use of different makkis such as araemakki and momtongmakki; and also the chigi used after emphasising the large step followed by a stamp at the end of the taegeuk. This poomsae is practiced by 4th Kup-grade trainees and above.
