Taebaek is the name of a mountain with the meaning of "bright mountain", where Tangun, the founder of the nation of Korean people, and the bright mountain symbolizes sacredness of soul and Tangun's thought of "hongik ingan"(humanitarian ideal). There are numerous sites known as Taebaeck, but Mt. Paektu, which has been typically known as the cradle of the Korean people, is the reason for naming the Taebaek poomsae. New technigues introduced in this poomsae are sonnal arae hechomakki, sonnal opeojapki (grabbing), japhin sonmokppaegi (pulling out the caught wrist), Keumgang momtong-makki, doltzeogi(hinge), etc. The line of poomsae is like a Chinese letter, which symbolizes the bridge between the Heaven and the earth. This signifies that the nation was founded by order of the Heaven's. The poomsae movements are largely composed of momtongmakki and chigi,
Starting with your feet together and your hands by your side open the hands whilst simultaneously lifting them to your solar plexus, then lowering and closing the fists to groin level . At the same time the feet are seperated to a shoulders width into Naranhi seogi. These movements are all executed at the same time finishing in kibon jumbi seogi (basic ready stance).
